The attack was carried out at Jamshoro toll plaza on Friday (May 24). Asifa Bhutto’s convoy was attacked by people protesting against the canal project.
After the attack, the police immediately intervened and took out Pakistani MP Asifa Bhutto safe. Along with this, the police arrested many people involved in this attack and registered a case against them. The roots of this entire incident are in the controversial canal project, which is being carried forward with the support of the army and on which the opposition of the people of Sindh is continuously intensifying. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif adjourned the project indefinitely until the Council of Common Interests (CCI) agreed.
What do people have to say about the project?
The people of Sindh say that they are being ignored in national priorities. Opposition leaders allege that the military establishment is using this scheme to carry forward its geopolitical agenda.
