Makarasana is one of the many asanas of yoga. ‘Makarasana’ is a Sanskrit word, which is made up of these two words ‘Makar’ and ‘Asan’.
Here ‘Makar’ means crocodile and ‘Asana’ means currency. By doing this asana, the back and back pain are reduced and the body gets relief. Let us tell you the benefits of this posture.
Yogasan promotes mental and physical health
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, doing Makarasan provides relief to the muscles of the body. Especially it removes the tightness of the back, waist and shoulders. It is also considered beneficial for the respiratory system. This yogasan promotes mental balance and physical health.
This is a very beneficial yogasan for the spine. Makarasana helps to keep the spinal composition balanced and increases flexibility in it. This is especially beneficial for those who are struggling with back pain, slip disc or ‘spinal tension’. Its regular practice makes the spinal cord strong and healthy.
In addition, Makarasan is helpful in reducing mental stress and anxiety. The practice of this asana brings peace to the brain and increases concentration. The Ministry of AYUSH also believes that by doing Makarasan, the brain gets relief and we feel calm. By doing this asana daily, the mind remains calm and worry is less. It is very beneficial for mental health.
Makarasan helps strengthen the digestive system
Makarasan helps strengthen the digestive system. While doing this asana, the body is lying on the ground on the ground, which puts light pressure on the stomach. This pressure activates the digestive organs. When doing this asana, when we breathe deep and slow, the flow of oxygen in the body increases, which improves digestion and provides relief in problems like gas, constipation and indigestion.
Let us now tell you the right way to do this asana
According to Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), first of all, you should lie down on the stomach. In this situation, spread the legs slightly away from each other and bend the claws outwards. After this, keep the right palm on the left hand while turning both hands. Then place the head comfortably on your hands in the right or left direction. Close the eyes slowly and let the whole body relax. This condition gives rest to the body as well as calm the mind and relieves stress. Regular practice of Makarasan improves mental and physical health.
