Anderson tendulkar trophy naming ceremony postponed: The Test series between India and England will start from June 20. Earlier, Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was scheduled to be launched at Lord’s ground in England, which has now been postponed. This decision has been taken due to the Ahmedabad plane crash accident. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is the new name of the Indo-England series. Earlier, the name of this trophy used to be the Pataudi Trophy. The trophy naming ceremony was scheduled to take place after the World Test Championship final on Saturday 14 June. But the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have decided to postpone the program with mutual consent.
After the Ahmedabad plane crash accident, both boards took this decision together
On Thursday 12 June, Air India aircraft crashed near Ahmedabad Airport, due to which more than 275 people died, out of which 241 people were in an airplane. There is an atmosphere of sorrow in the whole country after this accident. In view of this, the Cricket Board of England and India has decided to postpone this program.
An ECB official said, “In view of the tragic incidents in India, it may have to wait for the announcements in honor of those who have lost their lives. Both BCCI and ECB are considering a new date. BCCI is waiting for the right time to announce the announcement.”
Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy named after removing from Pataudi Trophy
The series between India and England was earlier named Pataudi Trophy. The Pataudi Trophy started in the year 2007. This series was named the Pataudi family, which gave India 2 captains to the Indian team as Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi. At the same time, this year both the boards have decided to change the name of the series. Now this series is named after India’s legend Sachin Tendulkar and England veteran James Anderson.
