Indian Electric Vehicle: Alan Musk’s company Tesla is going to enter India. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has answered how much it will have an impact on the electric vehicle market to be built in the country. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is confident that local EV brands will be able to maintain their positions firmly.
‘We are not less than anybody’
At the HPCL program Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards, he said, “India is an open market. Any company can come here, manufacture and compete in terms of cost. But our Indian electric car makers are also no less than anyone. We are best in terms of design, quality and technology. ”He said that this confidence is because the country’s automobile industry has now turned from the cost based sector to the quality based industry.
Third largest automobile market India
The Union Minister also said that in the coming time, all these things will make India the top automobile industry in the world. He told, “At present, we are the largest automobile market in the world with Rs 22 lakh crore. America (Rs 78 lakh crore) is at number one and China (Rs 49 lakh crore) is second. In the next five years, we will be number one with more use of alternative fuel, improved cost and quality and electrification.

Work on Flexi Fuel Future
Both the automobile industry and the government are working on flexi-fuel. Nitin Gadkari said, “Tata, Mahindra, Suzuki, Hyundai seven or eight companies have already planned to make flexi fuels, while companies like Adani, Tata, Tata, Maruti, LG, Samsung have got approval to make lithium ion battery under a special scheme.”
