Shashi Tharoor on Congress: Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Shashi Tharoor said on Thursday (19 June 2025) that he had differences with some leaders in the party leadership. However, he said that the Congress, its value and its workers are very dear to him. Congress MP Tharoor said that he has worked with party workers for 16 years and he considers him his close friend and brother.
Shashi Tharoor accepted differences with Congress
Tharoor said, “My opinion is different from some people in the Congress leadership. You know what I am talking about, because some of them are public and you (media) have given news about this. “He did not clarify whether his differences are with the national leadership or with the state leadership. He indicated that he could talk about those differences after the results of the by -election.
Where I am not invited to me- Tharoor
When asked why he was not a part of the campaign for the by -election, Tharoor said that he was not invited for it, while last year he has been invited during the by -elections including the by -elections in Wayanad last year. He said, “I don’t go there, where I have not been invited.”
He also said that he wants party workers’ efforts to campaign for the campaign to be successful and the Joint Democratic Front (UDF) candidate should win from Nilambur. Tharoor said about his recent conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that during this time there was talk of delegations in connection with the operations and discussions of various countries and discussions there. He said that no matter of domestic politics was discussed.
My focus focused on Bharti’s foreign policy
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor defended his decision to accept the Center’s invitation to lead the delegation, saying that when he became the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, he made it clear that his focus is on India’s foreign policy and its national interest and not on the foreign policy of Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He said, “I have not changed my stand. When an issue related to the nation comes out, it is the duty of all of us to work for the country and speak. What I said during Operation Sindoor was my own opinion. My services were sought by the Center. In fact, my party did not ask for these services, so I performed my duty with pride as an Indian citizen. ”
