India-New Zealand Direct Flight: Direct flight service can begin in the next three years between India and New Zealand. Air India and Air New Zealand are exploring the possibility of starting a direct flight service between the two countries by the end of 2028. This is a part of the agreement between the two airlines to improve connectivity between the two countries and promote contact.
Both airlines sign signed on MOU
Ksher India and Air New Zealand have signed a MoU for the Kodeshare partnership, which aims to strengthen relations between the two countries. At present, there is no direct flight service between India and New Zealand. For this, passengers have to pass through South-East Asia and Australia. Due to all this, the total travel time is 17 hours or more. Members of Star Alliance, both these airlines see the possibility of more demand for traveling between India and New Zealand for tourism, trade and education.
A large number of Indians in New Zealand
A large number of Indians live in New Zealand. Indians are the third largest part of the ethnic groups living here. After the signing of a memorandum in Mumbai in the presence of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, the two airlines said, “The MoU mentions a new codeshare partnership on 16 routes between India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, which will provide more convenient and many options for passengers to travel between the two countries.”
Passengers will benefit
Due to this, passengers will be able to travel from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai and will be able to connect with Air New Zealand flights from Sydney, Melbourne or Singapore to Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown. Under the MoU, Air New Zealand and Air India will consider starting direct flight service between India and New Zealand by the end of 2028, provided new aircraft are delivered and approved from the concerned government regulator.
