Oil heat
Put a little mustard oil in a small pan and heat it on low flame. If the oil comes out of the oil when heated and the smell becomes slightly lighter. So there are more chances of getting pure oil. But if the smoke comes out less or there is no difference in the smell. So oil can be adulterated.

Nitric acid test
Take 5 grams of oil in a glass tube and add a few drops of nitric acid to it. If the oil is pure then there will be no significant change. But if the color changes to red or brown. So understand that it has been adulterated.
Barometer test
Barometer reading of real mustard oil is between 58 and 60.5. If the reading of any oil is going above this. So it can contain adulteration of cheap oil or chemical. Let me tell you, this increases the density of oil and ends purity.

Oil
Take a little oil in a small bowl and keep it in the fridge for 2-3 hours. If the oil freezes completely or the white layer is seen. So it can be adulterated. Pure mustard oil never settles nor layer.
Testing on hand
Take a small amount of oil and rub it on the palm. If the color starts coming out or the smell looks like chemical. Then the oil is adulterated. Real mustard oil does not leave any color and its fragrance is a bit sharp and natural. While buying oil, always pick up the product only by watching good brand and FSSAI mark. Avoid local and cheap packing oils as much as possible.
