The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made very tough rules for Indian players not playing in foreign leagues, but there are some players who are out of these rules.
What does BCCI rule say?
According to the BCCI rule, the same Indian players can play in foreign leagues, who have retired from Indian cricket, which means that they are now playing neither international cricket, nor IPL nor domestic cricket in India. On the other hand, if an Indian player, who is playing in the IPL or playing domestic and international cricket, cannot participate in foreign leagues.
These Indian players have been part of foreign leagues
In the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore team mentor Dinesh Karthik played in the T20 League of South Africa this year. He was part of the Parl Royals team. Prior to that, Ambati Rayudu played in the Caribbean Premier League in the year 2024. He played for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, while Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan played for Dubai Capitals in 2023 ILT20. Two years ago, Suresh Raina also participated in the Dubai T10 tournament.
Kohli-Rohit can also become part of foreign leagues in future
Indian legendary players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are still playing ODI cricket for India. He is also a part of the IPL. If Rohit-Kohli retire from Indian cricket in the coming time, then it may happen that both players are seen playing in foreign leagues in future.
