The migrants who want to settle permanently in Britain will now have to undergo more strict English language test than ever. The government headed by the Prime Minister Kir Stmper is going to introduce a new immigration policy next week, which will include the imperative of fluent English i.e. fluent English.
According to a report by The Times, till now migrants only needed GCSE level basic English language knowledge. But under the proposed rules, this standard will be increased to A-Level. This level English is considered very high for those who read as foreign language.

What does home office say?
According to the UK’s home office, the new standard will ensure that migrants can interact in English in a fluent and spontaneous manner without hesitation. Also, you can establish effective dialogues in social, professional and educational environment.
Why this change is being brought?
Net migration in Britain has reached a record 7.28 lakh in 2023. The government wants more than 90 lakh unemployed citizens to work within the country. It is believed that language efficiency will increase the chances of better dissolving and getting jobs in the society with language efficiency.
What will be the effect?
This new policy can affect migrants coming from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and African countries, where English is sometimes a second or third language. According to experts, this condition of increasing English levels can put migrants in prolonged uncertainty. Also, this can also lead to a decline in the number of people who are planning to settle in Britain.
