There was a huge uproar between the ruling and opposition after the Uddhav Thackeray faction MLA Varun Sardesai’s 42 -acre land on behalf of Varun Sardesai of Uddhav Thackeray faction in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and on the issue related to the slum rehabilitation there.
On this proposal, the MLA of Thackeray faction became aggressive by the reply of Eknath Shinde faction minister Shambhuraj Desai and Aditya Thackeray himself also took a scathing stand in the House.
Shamburaj Desai accused
Shambhuraj Desai said, “I did not have to go too deep in this issue, but according to the information I have, between 2019 and 2022, the then state government did not make any correspondence with the Center even once in this matter.” There was an uproar in the house as soon as he said this.
Shambhuraj Desai further said, “We have sent four letters on this issue after the formation of the government in 2022. What did you do? Do not slander us. Tell me what you did? If I did not take someone’s name then why did you get chili in your nose?”
If the railway land is taken, then why is it opposed?
BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar said that the impact of this issue is also on my constituency. When railway land can be taken for Dharavi redevelopment, then why is there a protest against this land? What effort will the state government try for this? On this, Minister Shambhuraj Desai said that he will hold a meeting in his office in this matter.
Aditya Thackeray’s retaliation
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray said that the ministers are misleading the House, giving wrong answers. Should we bring a proposal for breach of privilege?
At the same time, Thackeray faction MLA Bhaskar Jadhav said that no minister can give a statement on any department. The permission of the Speaker is necessary for this. How can Shamburaj Desai speak on the matters of the urban development department? Are he the Chief Minister?
Meanwhile, there was a sharp debate between Bhaskar Jadhav and the MLAs of the ruling party, due to which the assembly proceedings had to be adjourned for 10 minutes.
