As part of preparations to deal with terrorist attacks in Delhi, the National Security Guards (NSG) organized a large mock drill. The exercise was done at the famous five -star hotels The Claridges (Janpath) in the capital. Based on the information of a fictional bomb blast during the mock drill, NSG, Delhi Police and Special Sale teams immediately reached the hotel and the entire operation started.
The special feature of this drill was an aerial exercise, in which NSG commandos were transported to the hotel roof through a chopper (helicopter). Chopper did not land on the roof, but while staying in the air, the commandos entered the hotel with the help of ropes. The practice shows what levels are preparing to deal with any serious situation.
What was done during a mock drill?
The purpose of the drill was not only to show action, but also important exercises such as evacuating the injured, evacuating the area, identification and search of suspects. The main objective of this was that in the event of a real terrorist attack, there should be coordination between all agencies and there should be no delay in response time.
Where was the event in Delhi?
Government and security agencies believe that terrorist threat cannot be ignored in a large and crowded city like Delhi. Therefore, it is necessary to do such drills from time to time, so that there is no chaos in any emergency and security agencies can work efficiently.
This mock drill is being organized in 10 different areas of Delhi and this campaign will run till 18 July 2025. On the morning of 17 July, the mock drill was done at Kashmiri Gate, The Claridges in the evening at the hotel and around 9 pm at Hindu College.
During this exercise, an appeal has also been made to cooperate to the general public that they should avoid rumors and if security agencies are practicing then do not become an obstacle there. This drill is an important step towards strengthening the security system of Delhi.
