Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan has expressed concern over cases of misconduct over Marathi not speaking in Maharashtra. He has also mentioned the incident of Tamil Nadu during this period. During an event in Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, the Governor said, “Nowadays I am seeing in newspapers that people are saying – if you do not speak Marathi, you will be beaten. This has also happened in Tamil Nadu.
Governor told the old story
The governor said, “When I was an MP, I used to do a lot of work. Once I was on the highway, there was a fight between two groups. I told my driver to stop the car and I got down myself that I can see what is the matter. ”
CP Radhakrishnan said, “Some people ran away after seeing me. Then I asked the faction that was being beaten what is the problem. He started speaking to me in Hindi. I do not know Hindi properly, so I asked a nearby hotelman what these people are saying. The hotelier said that they were being beaten because they were speaking in Hindi and the other group was insisting on speaking Tamil to them. ”
The Governor said, “The situation is the same today. If you kill me, will I immediately start speaking Marathi? I apologized to that beaten faction, arranged for their food and I did not go from there until they recovered. ”

We should learn more and more languages- CP Radhakrishnan
CP Radhakrishnan said, “Now I do not understand one thing-this is a big obstacle for me-see, Modiji has reduced the number of people living below the poverty line from 30% to 5-7% and most of them are Hindi speaking. If we have to understand the problems of the poor, then we have to understand their language too.
He said, “We should learn more and more languages, take pride in our mother tongue – there is no compromise – but it does not mean that we hate someone else’s mother tongue. We should be tolerant of each other. ”
On July 12, the workers of Raj Thackeray’s party MNS beat up an auto man at Virar railway station because he refused to speak in Marathi. After this, a video of the local train went viral, in which there is a debate among women about speaking Marathi.
