Target on India over trade policies
The US President had earlier targeted India’s trade policies earlier. He had said that India’s tariffs are the highest in the world and make it difficult to do business. In February, Trump announced that the US would soon impose mutual tariffs on countries like India and China. He had said that if a country imposes tariff on America, then America will also adopt the same policy.

Trump specifically questioned India’s automobile tariff. He said that India imposes more than 100 percent tariffs on imported vehicles from America which is unfair. Addressing the joint session of the US Congress, Trump clarified that it will be implemented from April 2. He said that America has been harmed by other countries for decades, but now it will not tolerate it any more.
