At the same time, it was also disclosed that all three terrorists were directly involved in Pahalgam massacre. According to the information, on 26 July i.e. Saturday, the terrorists turned on their satellite phone on Mahadev Choti (Hill) of Dachigam National Park. As soon as this phone went on, the security forces were alerted and the army’s para-SF (Special Forces) was especially sent to the forests for the mission. After a combing of about 48 hours, 4 para-SF units of commandos, lidwas and Mahadev reached close to the peaks, where the terrorists were living in a make-shift camp.
What were the security forces recovered?
After stacking the terrorists in an encounter that lasted about six hours, security forces also recovered the satellite phone along with arms and ammunition, which was used on Saturday. According to the information, it was a Chinese satellite phone, through which terrorists used to message their masters in border-par (Pakistan).
On 22 April, the terrorists were hiding in the forests only after massacre of innocent tourists in the Baisran Valley of Pahalgam. The terrorists reached Mahadev (Dachigam) from Basaron Valley via forests and mountains. Information has also been received that even two weeks ago, the terrorists had turned on their satellite phone once. Since then, intelligence agencies and security forces were looking for terrorists in the forests. For this, thermal imaging drones, satellite tracking, signal interception and human intelligence were being used in the forests and mountains between Pahalgam and Dachigam.
Shepherds had alerted security forces
For the first time, the movement of terrorists was seen on 22 May of the forests of Pahalgam. At that time, the shepherds living in the forest had alerted the security forces, but before the security forces could track them, the terrorists went out of the forest. Home Minister Amit Shah himself had told in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the location of terrorists was first discovered on 22 May.
Terrorists identified as Pakistani citizen
The slain terrorists have been identified as Suleman Shah, Jibran Bhai and Abu Hamza alias Hamza Afghani. All three are Pakistani citizens. Amit Shah had told the Parliament that even the identity cards of two terrorists are available with the intelligence agencies of the country. According to the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, apart from the Para-SF unit, the Jammu and KRPF was also involved in killing the terrorists.
In addition to two (02) AK-47 rifle and one (01) M-4 rifle, a large amount of hand grenade, magazine and another war-store have been recovered from the occupation of the terrorists. Eating and drinking utensils etc. have also been recovered from the polythene tents in which the terrorists were hidden in the tents. It seems that the terrorists were hiding this place for many days.
