Kishore Da was born on 4 August 1929 in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. His father’s name was his father’s name Kunjalal Ganguly and mother’s name was Gauri Devi. He was the youngest of his four siblings. His father was a well -known lawyer of Khandwa. His brother Ashok Kumar was a famous actor of that era and his wish was that Kishore Kumar also showed his strength in acting.

To fulfill his brother’s dream, Kishore worked as the lead actor in the film ‘Shikari’ in 1946. After this, in 1951, Phani Mazumdar’s film ‘Movement’, but his mind was more in singing.
