BCCI can announce Team India for the 2025 Asia Cup on 19 or 20 August. This prestigious Asian cricket tournament is to be played in UAE from 9 September. Earlier, former Indian wicketkeeper and selector Deep Dasgupta has given a shocking statement. He says that Sanju Samson will not be selected in Team India for the Asia Cup.
Let us know that in the last one year, Sanju Samson has scored the most runs for India in T20 International, but in the last five T20 matches, only 51 runs have been scored with Samson’s bat. For this reason, questions have been raised on his place in the team.
Cricketer -turned -commentator Deep Dasgupta said in a conversation with the Times of India, “Sanju Samson has done well, but he had to struggle against the strong team of England on the home ground. This was the only series under Suryakumar’s captaincy in which India played against a top international strong team.”
He added, “Shubman Gill can play the role of Virat Kohli, who can take the innings deep in high pressure tournaments. He has support for IPL performance. UAE must have such a player on slow pitches.”
He further says, “Abhishek Sharma will have to start as an opener, because when he comes in the rhythm, you can change the attitude of the match alone. It is difficult for Yashasvi Jaiswal to be in the team, so the team management will have to decide whether Sanju Samson or Jitesh Sharma can play in middle order or not.”
