The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has brought a new rule to check the fitness of the players. The name of this rule is Bronco Test. It has been taken from rugby in cricket. This will test the players’ aerobic capacity and running Stamina. At the same time, this test will take the test of staying on the ground and running long distance.
It is mainly for Test bowlers. Only after passing this test, the player will be included in Team India. According to the report of Indian Express, Bronco Test has been made mandatory to increase the stamina of the players and keep them fit for a long time.
What is Bronco Test?
Now the question must be arising in your mind that what is this Brono Test? Well, here we will tell you about this fitness test in easy language. With the Bronco Test itself, the players’ aerobic capacity and running Stamina will be tested. In this, the player has to complete 20 meters, 40 meters and 60 meters shuttle runs in one set. In this way a total of five sets have to be completed without stopping.
According to reports, Indian players have been asked to pass the Bronco Test within 6 minutes. A player will run about 1200 meters in five sets.
Why is Bronco Test brought?
First of all, let us tell you that the Bronco Test was recommended by Strength and Conditioning Coach Adrian Le Rocks. Head coach Gautam Gambhir also agreed on this. Le Rocks wants fast bowlers to focus more than the gym.
In Test cricket, Indian bowlers are failing to put a long spell. Recently, on the tour of England, only Mohammad Siraj was able to play all five Tests, and bowled at the bean speed in every session. The rest of the bowlers were tired of putting long spells. For this reason, this new fitness test has been brought.
