China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi reached Pakistan after visiting India. He agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in industrial, agriculture and mining areas during a meeting with Pak Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday (August 21). With this meeting of Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi, the relationship between Pakistan and China is expected to become stronger, but there is also a tension for India.
The Foreign Office (FO) said that during the sixth round of strategic dialogue of foreign ministers in Islamabad, the two leaders exchanged intensive views on several aspects of bilateral cooperation, including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation and relations between the people of both countries.
Pak-China deepest friendship
The friendship between Pakistan and China is getting deeper. The FO said, “Both sides reviewed the entire aspects of Pakistan-China relations and discussed important regional and global issues.” The Foreign Office said that underlining the evergreen strategic cooperation partnership between Pakistan and China, Dar and Wang agreed that Pakistan-China friendship is important to maintain regional peace and stability and also unnecessarily for the progress and prosperity of both countries.
He also agreed to close close coordination and communication on bilateral and multilateral forums.
China will help in strengthening Pakistan financially
At the press conference with Dar after the meeting, Wang expressed support to increase Pakistan’s economic strength and said that the current priority of both sides is a high quality development of the advanced version of CPEC. Wang said that both countries will also jointly cooperate in the development and operation of Gwadar port.
He said that China appreciates Pakistan’s untiring efforts and immense sacrifices in dealing with terrorism. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s anti-terrorism campaign would eventually be successful. He also said that both countries will also work to further strengthen terrorism and security cooperation.
Wang also expressed condolences on the recent deaths and destruction due to the recent floods in Pakistan and announced that his country would provide immediate emergency human assistance to the flood victims. Addressing a joint press conference with Wang, Dar said, “We today made useful and concrete discussions on various fields of mutual interests.”
Dar also acknowledged China’s role in reducing tension with Afghanistan and said that there was a tripartite meeting with Afghan counterpart Aamir Khan Mutki on Wednesday. Earlier, on reaching the Ministry of External Affairs for strategic talks, External Affairs Minister Dar welcomed Wang warmly. Wang will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
