To fulfill this dream, the Government of India started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the year 2015. The aim of this scheme was that every needy of the country should get a firm house, especially those who do not have roof or do not have the right facility to live.

Under the scheme, the government provides financial assistance to people to build or buy houses, so that they can build their own house. There are many categories in the scheme and separate income limits have been fixed for them, but now there are cases of large-scale fraud and forgery in this scheme. Many people have taken wrong advantage of this scheme with false papers, wrong information and connivance of officers. What is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government gives money to the people of four categories to buy or build houses. The first EWS, whose annual income is up to 3 lakhs. At the same time, the second LIG, whose annual income is between 3 and 6 lakhs. This is followed by MIG1, whose annual income is between 6 and 12 lakhs and then MIG 2, whose annual income is between 12 and 18 lakhs. The government gives help to the people of these categories from 1.20 lakh to 2.67 lakhs, so that they can build their own house.

How is the fraud?

There have been many such cases, where people applied to the scheme despite being already their pucca house. By making fake documents, he showed himself poor, took the first installment of the scheme, but did not even keep a brick to build a house and in some cases both the husband and wife have taken advantage of different names. According to reports, more than 9,000 people in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh took advantage of the scheme on the basis of fake documents, while they lived in good houses already.

Can the government recover back or not

The law says that on fraud under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, it is illegal if a person takes advantage of the scheme by giving false documents or in a fake way. The amount taken from such a person can be recovered. They can also be fined, which can be higher with the help found. Also, there can be a jail sentence. The government has made it clear that the process can be initiated to withdraw the incorrect amount received, but this requires strictness and legal procedure in the rules. If someone has taken advantage of the scheme in a fake way, then the government sends notice to the first person. If the money is not returned in the stipulated time, then legal action is taken. In some cases, the process of confiscation of property may also be done. Action can also be taken against the officers involved in the scheme.
