Avinash Rao Appointed Mahindra Susten MD & CEO: Mahindra Sustain, a company of Mahindra Group, has appointed Avinash Rao as the new managing director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This appointment will be effective from 25 September 2025. In his new role, Avinash Rao will focus on the growth strategy of the company and focus on the expansion of renewable energy business.
Who is Avinash Rao?
Avinash Rao has about 30 years of experience in the energy field. Recently, he was working as a CEO in Sustainable Energy Infra Investment Managers Private Limited. Along with this, he has also been an investment manager of Sustainable Energy Infra Trust (SEIT), which is India’s largest renewable energy listed company invit. He has also played leadership roles in Sekukra India Management Limited and CLP India earlier.
Mahindra Sustain is one of India’s leading independent power producers. The company has so far successfully completed more renewable energy projects under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts.
Role of Mahindra Sustain
Currently, the company has more than 1.6 GWP commissioned projects, while around 3.6 GWP development pipeline is underway. This includes solar, wind, hybrid projects and commercial and industrial (C&I) solutions. Apart from this, the company is also expanding its capabilities in the field of energy storage and integrated clean energy solutions and is playing an important role in India’s Green Energy Transition.
Dr. Anish Shah, CEO and MD of Mahindra Group, said that Mahindra has not only climate protection and stability, but it is one of our main objectives. Along with this, he further said that after deep expertise in Avinash Rao’s energy sector, it will help in moving towards clean energy.
