Before the 2025 Asia Cup, former selector Krishnamachari Srikanth has given a controversial statement regarding the Indian cricket team. This statement of Srikanth can boil the blood of Indian fans. Srikanth says that India’s current T20 team can win the Asia Cup, but this team will not win the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Chris Srikanth raised questions on team selection
Former Indian selector Krishnamachari Srikanth said on his YouTube channel, “We can win the Asia Cup with this team, but there is no chance of the World Cup. Do you want to take this team in the World Cup? Where is the preparation for the World Cup, while the tournament is just six months away.”
Srikanth further said that the selection of the team for the Asia Cup has been done not on the current performance, but by looking at the old data of the players. I do not know how Rinku Singh, Shivam Dubey and Harshit Rana have been selected in the team. Earlier the performance of IPL was seen, but this time it has not happened.
Srikanth asked- Who will bat at number 5?
Srikanth also questioned who would bat at number 5. He said that Sanju Samson, Shivam Dubey, Rinku Singh or someone else, who will come at number 5. I do not understand why and how Shivam Dubey has been selected. He also expressed displeasure at Yashasvi Jaiswal’s non -element. He said that Jaiswal did well in the IPL along with international cricket, yet he was not selected. This is beyond understanding.
