The period from Pratipada to Amavasya of Ashwin month is called Pitra Paksha. This year Pitru Paksha will start from 7 September and will run till 21 September. The 15 -day period of Pitru Paksha is dedicated to the dead ancestors.
Pindadan, shraddha and tarpan are mainly performed in Pitru Paksha for the peace, satisfaction of the soul of the ancestors and freedom from Pitra dosha. At this time, one has to follow charity, worship and some rules.
The time of Pitra Paksha is also considered auspicious for planting some trees and plants. At the time of Shraddha, worshiping these trees and plants and planting them is pleased and blesses to flourish his descendants. Peepal- According to Hindu belief, the Peepal tree resides along with the gods as well as the ancestors. The ancestors are pleased with this and shower their blessings on the whole family. But instead of home, apply Peepal in an open place or temple.
Tulsi- It is also good to plant a basil plant at home at the time of Pitru Paksha. At this time, planetary plants are removed by planting a basil plant. Also, Lakshminarayan’s blessings are also received.
Banyan- Banyan or Vat tree is considered a symbol of longevity and immortality. Banyan tree is also worshiped during Pitru Paksha. By planting Vat tree in Pitru Paksha, ancestors bless their descendants. But keep in mind that put on an open place outside the house of the Vat tree.
