Statues of tribal freedom fighter brothers and Kanhu were once again broken in Hazaribagh city of Jharkhand. This incident took place on the eve of Karam Puja, causing deep resentment among the people. Angry villagers and local people protested for several hours by blocking the road.
Statues broken for the second time in 15 days
These idols were damaged even about 15 days ago. Even at that time, the culprits could not be caught. Local people allege that this second incident has happened due to the negligence of the police. In the previous case, mischievous elements near the college, former Chief Minister K.B. The statue of Sahai was also damaged.
The incident occurred in the early hours of rain
According to the police, the incident took place around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning. During the night patrolling, the statue was in the right condition, but the miscreants carried out the crime by taking advantage of heavy rains before dawn. Police suspect that mischievous elements damaged the idols under the guise of dark and rain.
Angry people landed on the road
As soon as the news of the incident spread in the morning, a large number of people reached the spot. He shouted slogans and blocked PWD Chowk for several hours at Sadanand Road and Korah Road intersection. The protesters said that the police is constantly negligent and is saving the culprits.
Hazaribagh (Headquarters) Sub -Divisional Police Officer Amit Kumar Anand said that those who damage the idols of freedom fighters are being identified. He assured that the culprits will be caught soon. After receiving the assurance, the protesters ended the jam.

Sido and Kanhu Murmu were two brothers, who led the Santhal rebellion against British rule and local landlords in the year 1855–56. In tribal society, he is seen as a hero and a pioneer of freedom struggle. Therefore, people’s feelings have been deeply hurt by the incidents of demolition of their idols.
