Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday (September 6, 2025). During this, the struggle in Ukraine was discussed between the two leaders. Also reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi gave information about this by posting a post on his official X social media account. PM Modi said in the post, ‘There was a very good conversation with President Macron. We reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation in various fields and evaluated positively. Exchanged ideas on international and regional issues, including efforts to end the struggle in Ukraine early. India-France will play an important role in promoting strategic partnership, global peace and stability.

India-France relations strong on many other aspects, not just political

PM Modi’s statement emphasizes that the relations between India and France are not only political, but also in economic, defense and cultural fields. Both countries have been working on many important projects for the last few years, including defense production, space technology and renewable energy. This conversation has further strengthened the status of these projects.

European Commission chairman spoke to PM before Macron

This conversation between PM Modi and Macron took place two days after the European Commission Chairman Ursula von Der Leyen’s conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he emphasized that India’s role is important to end Russia’s war in Ukraine and make a way of peace.

Prime Minister Modi is in touch with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky. He has called for repeated interactions and diplomacy to end the deadliest war in Europe since World War II.

Macron said after talking to PM Modi

At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron also shared a post on social media platform X after talking to PM Modi on Saturday (September 6, 2025). Macron said, ‘I just spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I told them about the results that we have taken out at a meeting held in Paris on Thursday (September 4, 2025) in Ukraine’s President Jailnsky and Coalition of the Willing.

He said, ‘India and France have a similar desire for Ukraine that Ukraine should immediately establish a permanent peace. On the basis of our friendship and strategic partnership, we will continue to move forward to decide the path of peace.

Sco PM Modi interacted with Jailonsci at the summit

Prime Minister Modi, who went to meet Putin at the SCO summit held in Tianjin, spoke to Jailonsky on the possibilities of war and peace in Ukraine. After the conversation, Jailonsky posted on social media that the India is ready to give appropriate indications to Russia and other leaders during the summit. On August 11, there was a conversation between Prime Minister Modi and Jailonski.
