In Singapore, a Immigration Officer of Indian origin has been sentenced to jail for 22 months on Thursday (September 11, 2025). The immigration officer is accused of demanding sexual relations with the applicants who came to get the journey passed.
News agency PTI quoted a media report in Singapore as saying that the Indian -origin Immigration Officer had allegedly demanded sexual relations in exchange for help in getting the travel pass to the people.

The Singapore officer has been identified as Kannan Morris Rajagopal Jairam, who was working as an Inspector in the Immigration and Czechpoints Authority (ICA). In this case, allegations of corruption have been made against Kannan, stating that he took illegal advantage of applicants as sexual relations in exchange for passing short-term travel applications.

Instead of working as the patron of our borders and the fair public representative of Singapore, the accused exploited these young foreigners. This is a very terrible and surprising case.
The officer has been sentenced in many cases before
According to the channel report, the documents of the Singapore court also mentions the incidents of 2022 and 2023 in which the 55 -year -old Singapore official has been sentenced before in three similar cases. It also included Indian students between 25 and 30 years of age, who came to Singapore to study. At the same time, according to ICA, a case was registered against the officer in the year 2023 and he was also suspended from duty in the month of April.

Kannan was the officer responsible for the monitoring of the team taking action on the applications of Visa Extension in the Immigration Department of Singapore, who was found guilty of three allegations of corruption. However, there were many guidelines for short-term visa extensions, but the officials working under Kannan often consulted them in any difficult situation and Kannan could approve or dismiss the applications on the basis of his discretion.
