Shabana Azmi was born on 18 September 1950 in Hyderabad. Her father was famous poet Kaifi Azmi and mother Shaukat Azmi was an actress. Since childhood, Shabana got an atmosphere of art and literature, but she never allowed herself to become a burden on the family. During his studies, he worked hard to make himself self -sufficient. Before taking admission in the college, he sold coffee at a petrol pump for three months. She used to earn 30 rupees daily. He never took money from his parents. National Award received from debut film itself
Shabana Azmi made a step in the film industry in 1974 with Shyam Benegal’s film ‘Ankur’. In this film, she played the role of a maid, who is a pregnant woman. His role was so strong that he got the first national award for this film. The film strengthened the foundation of his career and his performance was appreciated all over the country. After this, he worked in art films as well as commercial films and played every role well. His films include many social awareness films like ‘Earth’, ‘ruins’, ‘Paar’, ‘Godamdar’, from which they raised women’s issues. Shabana Azmi was married to famous lyricist and composer Javed Akhtar, who was already married. Javed Akhtar divorced his first wife and married Shabana in 1984. The pair is known for their unique love and maturity. However, Shabana did not get the pleasure of becoming a mother, but she never let it become disappointed in her life. There were many ups and downs in his family and personal life, but Shabana always trusted her principles and hard work.
His mother Shaukat Azmi’s autobiography has also revealed that Shabana tried suicide twice in childhood, which was a big struggle for her. But every time he handled himself and moved forward. It was the result of his strength and passion that today he is one of the most respected and inspiring actresses of Bollywood. In July 2023, Shabana Azmi was also seen in Karan Johar’s film ‘Rocky and Rani Ki Prem Kahani’.
