What are the disadvantages of red meat?

They contain very high amount of saturated fat and sodium, which increases the risk of heart diseases and diabetes.

A research by Oxford University found that eating 50 grams of processed meat (such as bacon or ham) daily increases the risk of heart disease by 18 percent. According to research published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, 50 grams of processed meat (ie only 2 slices ham) daily increases the risk of type-2 diabetes by 15 percent.

Cholesterol and cancer risk

Another disadvantage of red meat is that it increases poor cholesterol (LDL) in the body. This increases the risk of heart diseases. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) has placed the Red Meet in the category of Group 2A carcinogen. That is, more intake of it can increase the risk of cancer in humans. Red meat is a good source of nutrition and its intake in limited amounts can be beneficial for the body. But regular intake of processed meat like Ham, Bacon and Salute increases the risk of heart diseases, diabetes and cancer. Therefore, experts recommend that you consume red meat in limited quantity and if possible, choose fresh and low -fat meat.
