American telecom company T-Mobile has appointed Srini Gopalan, an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad as its new CEO. This change has been made at a time when the company wants to maintain its lead in the 5G network sector amid the recession in the US. Gopalan is currently working as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the company and from November 1 he will take responsibility as CEO.
T-mobile announced this appointment on Monday. Gopalan said that I am grateful for the trust that Mike and the board have expressed on me. It is an honor for me to lead the next chapter of T-Mobile.
Six years journey in the shadow of Mike Serett
Gopalan’s predecessor Mike Seart has been the CEO of T-Mobile for six years. He led the company from April 2020 so far and successfully carried out the merger of $ 26 billion with Sprint. This merger created a new competitive atmosphere in the American telecom industry and brought T-mobiles forward against AT & T and Verizon. Now Mike will become the vice-chairman of the seizure company and will focus on strategy and innovation.
Who is Srini Gopalan?
55 -year -old Srini Gopalan did his schooling from Delhi Public School, RK Puram, New Delhi. After this, he got a bachelor’s degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and did MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
Gopalan started his career in companies like Exent and Unilever India. He first worked as Chief Marketing Officer in T-Mobile’s UK Division in 2009. After this, he has fulfilled responsibility as Consumer Director in Vodafone and Bharti Airtel. In March 2025, he re-joined T-mobile as COO and took over the leadership of the company.
Apart from this, Gopalan Deutache has also been a CEO of Telecom Germany and contributed to the expansion of the fiber network. Their international experience and understanding of the Indian market suitable for the post of CEO of T-Mobile.
Gopalan’s salary and benefits
Gopalan’s annual salary as COO in T-Mobile was $ 1 million. After becoming CEO, his base annual salary has been fixed at $ 1.4 million. Along with this, they will get other allowances and bonuses, which they are given as high officials of the company.
New chapter for t-mobile
The T-mobile 5G will focus on expansion of 5G network and strengthening its hold in the US telecommunication market under Gopalan. The company aims to take forward competition through fast network service, better customer experience and technological innovation.
