Pakistan has boycotted the World Para Athletics Championship 2025 to be held in India. This tournament is going to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from 27 September. After the Pahalgam attack, India underwent aircraft on terrorist bases in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. After this, the relationship between the two countries got worse, which is why the players of Pakistan are not coming to India for the tournament.
On Thursday, the NPCP (National Paralympic Committee of Pakistan) announced that Pakistan is boycotting the tournament. The committee took this decision due to the advice of the government and increased political tension after the Pulwama terror attack.
NPCP, General Secretary Imran Jamil Shami, said that initially Pakistan nominated its prominent Paralympian Haider Ali in the F37 throwing category of men, but the team was withdrawn in view of the public’s anger. He also falsely cited security reasons in the tournament. Let us know that this tournament is held in Delhi between 27 September to 5 October.
Jamil Shami further said, ‘We have decided that world para will not send our team for athletics, because we were afraid of the safety of our players, coaching staff and team managers. The government had also advised not to send the team. “
He also mentioned the Asia Cup 2025, which is being played in UAE. 2 matches have been played in the tournament between India and Pakistan, but there was a dispute between the two matches. Regarding not joining hands in the first match and in the second match with shameful gestures by Pakistan players.
He said, “You are seeing what happened between the cricket teams of the two countries in the Asia Cup in Dubai. It can be guessed, Hyder and the coach were also not comfortable going to India.”
2200 athletes from 104 countries are taking part
2200 athletes from 104 countries are participating in this event held from 27 September to 5 October. It has 73 athletes of India. Let us know that India is the fourth Asian country hosting the World Para Athletics Championship. Qatar (2015), UAE (2019) and Japan (2024) have hosted earlier.
