In the Asia Cup 2025, India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets and won the title and upheld their dominance. This victory was India’s ninth win in the Asia Cup. But after this exciting match, a new drama came out till midnight. The Indian team refused to take the Asia Cups of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Mohsin Naqvi to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy.
Mohsin Naqvi sent the trophy to the hotel and placed a condition that if the Indian team comes to take the trophy from him, then he would get the trophy. After this incident, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) made it clear that the team has decided not to take the trophy from the ACC president, as Naqvi is one of the prominent leaders of Pakistan. The BCCI Secretary said, “We will strongly oppose this act at the next ICC conference.”
Who is Mohsin Naqvi?
Mohsin Raza Naqvi is a well-known media entrepreneur, politician and cricket administrator of Pakistan. He was born on 28 October 1978 in Lahore. His parents died in childhood and he was raised by his maternal grandparents.
In education, he did his early studies from Lahore and went to Ohio University in America to complete journalism studies. After completing his studies, he returned to Pakistan and stepped into the media sector and established the City News Network, which includes several channels like City 42, 24 News, Channel 21 and ROHI.

After making a career in the media, Naqvi stepped into politics. From 22 January 2023 to 26 February 2024, he was the interim Chief Minister of Punjab province. He was then made the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and was appointed as the Minister of Home and Narcotics Control of Pakistan in March 2024. This year he also became a member of the Senate of Pakistan. In 2025, he hosted the Asia Cup as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Mohsin Naqvi’s salary
Mohsin Naqvi does not get any definite salary as ACC President. Instead they are given daily allowance, rimbarsment for official expenses, and other facilities. Its purpose is to cover their entire responsibilities and office expenses. While in this post, Naqvi gets different allowances for travel, housing and other official expenses. However, this amount is not stable and changes according to the policies of ACC.
