His grandfather Jahar Mukherjee was a famous lyricist, while his father Manas Mukherjee was a music director. Because of this, there was a deep attachment to music since childhood. Shaan started his career by singing jingles for advertisements. This period was very important for him because Jingles recognized his voice and his singing got a platform. After this, Shaan started his career in Bollywood with the film ‘Parinda’ (1989). At that time he was only 17 years old and gave his voice as a playback singer in a song from the film. Later Shan gave R.D. The remix version of Burman’s popular song ‘Roop Tera Mastana’ sang, which people liked a lot. This song gave him a chance to move even further in Bollywood.

In 1999, there was a golden turn in Shan’s career, when he sang the song ‘Musu Musu Hasi’ for the film ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’. This song got a lot of love from the audience and proved to be his first major hit. After this, he lent his voice in many films like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Saathiya’, ‘Fana’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ were made very popular.
