Internet and mobile services have been completely discontinued in Afghanistan since Monday (September 29). This action has been taken after the Taliban government order. Fiber-optic internet service in many cities including Kabul, Uruzgan, Mazar-e-Sharif and Herat stopped. Although after some time, the mobile internet worked for some time, but due to the closure of the signal tower, it also came to a standstill.

According to a BBC report, satellite TVs have also been affected along with mobile. The Taliban government has said that internet and mobile network will remain closed till further orders. According to local media reports, many flights flying from Kabul Airport have also been affected. Some flights have also been canceled.

Mobile networks and internet closed all over the country

Earlier, fiber-optic networks were discontinued in Kandahar, Balkh, Uruzgan and Nimrose, but now the internet has shut down in the whole country. Due to this blackout, it is not possible to make international calls in Afghanistan. Due to the closure of the mobile network, the people of Afghanistan are not able to contact each other due to business or family reasons.

Why internet closed in Afghanistan

The Taliban government has not been given the reason for the decision to shut down the Internet, but it is being claimed that the Taliban has taken this decision to stop immoral activities. Due to the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, many restrictions have already been imposed and now the internet has also been closed.

The Taliban has prohibited girls from going to school and university and now online class will not be possible. It is believed that women have the most rigorous sanctions in Afghanistan. At the same time, due to the closure of internet, local business can also be affected.
