‘If Malaysia supports, Pakistan is forever …’, what moves from foreign soil now Shahbaz Sharif?

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is on a two -day visit to Malaysia till 7 October. Here he held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim and then the two leaders issued a joint shared statement. After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s condition became such that PM Shahbaz Sharif had to knock the doors of the IMF with a bowl. Now he wants to trap Malaysia in his trap.

Currently we need IMF program: Shahbaz

Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will say goodbye to the IMF forever by parting with Malaysia. At the joint press conference of the two countries, he said, “We currently need an IMF program to stabilize Pakistan’s economy. Our goal is that soon we will be free from external financial dependence.” For this, he has also requested Malaysia to help.

Pakistan spread hands in front of Malaysia

Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif said, “The program of our IMF now will end in the next two years. However, if we look at the situation now, it is very important for Pakistan.” He said that if the entrepreneurs of Pakistan and Malaysia take a pledge to make joint investment together, then we can surely say goodbye to IMF forever.

IMF gave debt to Pakistan after Operation Sindoor

In May 2025, IMF sanctioned assistance of about Rs 8,000 crore ($ 1 billion) to Pakistan. India had expressed concern over this, as this help was given when India attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK) under Operation Sindoor. India had asked the IMF to give this help again, because Pakistan promotes terrorist attacks on India from its land.

Army’s hold on Pakistani economy

Pakistan’s economy is very strong on the grip of the army there. This is the reason that resources have been used mainly on weapons and terrorists amidst increasing poverty and unemployment in the country.

Pakistan has failed to complete three of the five targets set for the second review of the $ 7 billion $ 7 billion bailout package. This proved India’s claim that Islamabad has been in debt for a long time and its record of properly implementing and following the IMF rules is very poor.
