Case registered against lawyer Rakesh Kishore who tried to throw shoe at CJI Gavai, Bengaluru Police action


All India Advocates Association, Bengaluru filed a complaint at the Vidhan Sabha police station against lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who threw a shoe at the Chief Justice (CJI) of the Supreme Court. The association has said that this is a serious crime and the accused should be punished. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered zero FIR under sections 132 and 133 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

Lawyers demonstrated across the country

Lawyers from Delhi to different parts of the country protested against the attempt to misbehave with CJI BR Gavai. Lawyers said that this attack is not just on one person, but is a conspiracy to shake the foundation of India’s justice system. This is a direct attack against the Constitution.

The lawyer told why the attack was attempted?

Rakesh Kishore shouted, “Insulting Sanatan will not do” before trying to throw the shoe at the CJI. After this incident, lawyer Rakesh Kishore said, “I am against violence, but why did a non-violent, honest man, who has no case against him and is not associated with any group, have to do this, it is a matter of thought.”

He said, “I am hurt by the statement given by the CJI regarding Lord Vishnu. This was my reaction to his comment.” Advocate Rakesh Kumar said that he was not drunk that day and he has no regrets or fears about whatever happened.

License of lawyer Rakesh Kumar canceled

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has canceled the license of accused lawyer Rakesh Kumar. On Monday (6 October 2025), the lawyer was taken into custody by the police after he tried to throw a shoe towards the CJI and was interrogated for 3 hours in the Supreme Court campus itself. According to the police, there was no complaint by the Supreme Court officials in this matter. The lawyer was released after interrogation.
