Police have intensified action in the blast that took place on Wednesday evening in Mishri Bazaar located in Moolganj police station area in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Till now six people are being detained and interrogated. Eight people were injured in this blast, out of which the condition of four was critical and they were shifted to Lucknow. Along with this, teams of ATS and NIA have also been deployed to investigate the incident.

In the initial investigation, police are saying that the explosion was caused by firecrackers. Police conducted a search operation in the entire area and recovered a huge quantity of firecrackers. CCTV of the area is also being checked.

What was the whole matter?

Let us tell you that the local people call this narrow market situated on Miston Road as ‘Bindi Bazaar’. There was a lot of crowd here these days due to Diwali. On Wednesday, around 7:15 pm, there was a sudden massive explosion in two scooties (one numbered UP-78 EW 1234) parked near the mosque.

According to the people present on the spot, the sound of the explosion was heard from a distance of 500 meters to 1.5 kilometers, due to which the walls of nearby houses cracked, the glass of shops were broken and a toy shop was completely destroyed. A cloud of smoke spread and there was chaos. Local people immediately took the injured to the hospital.

Fear of illegal firecrackers

Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Ashutosh Kumar said that the front parts of the scooter were completely damaged due to the blast. In the initial investigation, it seems to be due to illegal storage of firecrackers or explosive material. The owner of the scooter is a local youth, who had come to the market with his father and is said to be buying firecrackers.

ATS,NIA took charge

Police conducted a search operation in the area in which huge quantities of illegal firecrackers were recovered from many shops. Police have detained six suspicious people, whose interrogation is ongoing. According to police sources, some more suspects may also be detained. CCTV of the area is also being checked.

According to Police Commissioner Raghuveer Lal, more than 8 people are injured in the incident, the condition of a ragpicker woman is critical. Four people have been referred to Lucknow. ATS and NIA teams have also started investigating the blast. No one will be spared.

Let us tell you here that on Diwali, firecrackers are being sold in such a dense area. This has raised questions on the local police administration. At present, there is still panic in the area after the explosion.
