In view of the increasing crowd of passengers on Diwali and Chhath festival, the Railway Administration has made major changes at New Delhi Railway Station. For the convenience of passengers and crowd control at the station, temporary changes have been made in the platforms of about a dozen trains. These changes will remain effective till October 30.
The maximum crowd is seen every year at New Delhi Railway Station during festivals like Diwali and Chhath. Keeping this in mind, this time Railways has taken these precautionary steps. According to railway officials, this decision has been taken to maintain smooth movement of passengers on the platform and prevent chaos.
Focus on crowded platforms
Officials said that many crowded trains used to depart from platform numbers 12, 13, 14 and 15 at the same time, due to which both passengers and railway employees had to face problems. In particular, 12-13 and 14-15 are located on both sides of the same platform, which increases the crowd pressure simultaneously. To reduce this, platform changes have been made.
Railway’s appeal to passengers
Railway administration has requested the passengers to check the platform information of their train before travelling. The official said that this temporary change has been made to ensure crowd control and safety, which will give passengers a better experience during the festivals.

Keeping the festivals in mind, under another temporary arrangement, the sale of platform tickets will remain closed from October 15 to 28 at major railway stations of Delhi – New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Nizamuddin and Ghaziabad Junction.
