US President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday (October 9, 2025) that the two-year-long Gaza war is now over. He assured that the hostages will be released on Monday (13 October) or Tuesday (14 October 2025) under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

US President Trump said, “We have achieved a significant breakthrough in the Middle East on Wednesday (October 8, 2025), which people said would never happen. We have ended the war in Gaza and I think it will be a lasting peace. We have secured the release of all the remaining hostages and they should be released on Monday or Tuesday. Releasing them is a complex process.”
Donald Trump will go to Egypt
He added, “I will try to go there. We will try to get there. We are working on the exact timing. We will go to Egypt and do a signing there. There has already been a signing for my representation, but we are going to do an official signing.”

Hamas rejected Trump’s proposal
Meanwhile, Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, said that he has rejected Trump’s proposal for an interim peace board to oversee the Gaza administration, which will be headed by the US President himself. In an interview with Al Arabi news channel, he said, “No Palestinian will accept this. All factions, including the Palestinian Authority, reject it.”
Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement for the release of hostages in Gaza, under which hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody will be released.
