Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (October 9, 2025) congratulated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the progress on the Gaza peace plan. This conversation between PM Modi and Netanyahu took place at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also spoken to US President Donald Trump on the same issue and congratulated him for his proposed Gaza peace plan to stop the Gaza war. However, it has also come to light that PM Netanyahu postponed his security cabinet meeting for a while to talk to PM Modi on the Gaza peace plan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave this information through a post on his official X handle. PM Modi said on Twitter, ‘I called my friend Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and congratulated him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement to release the hostages and increase humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. We also reiterated that terrorism in any form or anywhere is not acceptable.

Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement

According to the Times of Israel report, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also issued a statement in this regard. The Israeli PMO said in a statement that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had briefly halted the ongoing Security Cabinet meeting on the ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza to talk to PM Modi.

The statement said, ‘PM Modi congratulated Prime Minister Netanyahu on the agreement regarding the release of all the hostages. PM Modi stressed that Netanyahu has always been a close friend of India and this friendship will remain strong in future also. During this, Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked PM Modi for his support to Israel and both the leaders also agreed to deepen mutual cooperation.
