Strategy and deadlock in seat distribution
As soon as the Election Commission announced the dates of Bihar Assembly elections, political turmoil intensified in Patna. In the exercise of seat distribution in NDA, several rounds of meetings were held between BJP’s Bihar in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan and LJP chief Chirag Paswan.
Even after several rounds of talks, the deadlock remained at Chirag Paswan’s residence. Finally, with the help of Union Minister Nityanand Rai and BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, Chirag was persuaded to agree to the final formula of 29 seats. At the end of the meeting, both the leaders were seen smiling and shaking hands, which was a sign of successful talks for the NDA.
Dharmendra Pradhan’s strategy and experience
This strategic skill of Dharmendra Pradhan makes him a reliable leader of BJP. He has earlier also ensured the party’s success in complex election situations in Bihar and other states.
Bihar (2010): NDA’s landslide victory (206 seats out of 243)
Lok Sabha Elections 2014: Won 31 out of 40 seats
Uttar Pradesh (2022): Ensured BJP’s victory for the second consecutive time
Haryana (2024): BJP formed government for the third time
Uttarakhand (2017): Important role in bringing the party back to power
West Bengal (2021): Focus to win on Nandigram
Dharmendra Pradhan’s biggest strengths are his organizational skills, calm but effective negotiation and ability to solve complex political equations. His strategic role will prove to be decisive in keeping the NDA united in the Bihar elections 2025 and strengthening the ‘double engine government’.
