‘Did PM Modi miss a diplomatic opportunity?’ Shashi Tharoor said on the participation of Minister of State for External Affairs in Gaza Summit


Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will participate on behalf of India in the Gaza Peace Summit held in Egypt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited for the summit, which is expected to be attended by US President Donald Trump and leaders of about 20 other countries. On PM Modi not attending the Gaza summit, Shashi Tharoor said that India’s voice may be limited due to lack of high-level participation.

The Gaza Peace Conference has started from Monday (13 October 2025) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. When India’s Minister of State for External Affairs participated in this, Shashi Tharoor asked, “Strategic restraint or has India missed a diplomatic opportunity?”

These world leaders will attend the Gaza conference

The peace summit organized by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will discuss measures to bring lasting peace in Gaza and the Middle East. The leaders participating in it include US President Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italy’s PM Georgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
