Azam Khan, former MLA and former minister from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, was released from jail on bail in the month of September. After which the government has restored his Y category security. Now SP leader Azam Khan has refused to take security without written assurance.
Former minister Azam Khan taunted and said that I am a chicken thief and a goat thief, I have been sentenced to 21 years, so how am I getting security. I not believe. Along with this, Azam Khan said sarcastically in his style that if security has to be given then at least as much security should be provided as my opponents have.
On the question of not taking security from the media at his residence in Rampur, Azam Khan said that until I do not get any written information, I am not ready to take it. Circumstances have taught me this much. Speaking further, Azam Khan expressed his displeasure over the removal of illegal encroachment on government lands and as a result he was sentenced to 21 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 36 lakh.
He sarcastically said that in the media reports I am a convicted criminal who cannot get security. So how do I take it now? If I don’t have any official information then how will I trust them?
Get equal security as opponents
Azam Khan raised questions on the security squad and said that those who have become MLAs for the first time have got everything from Z Plus to commands of the Central Force. If you have to provide security, then provide at least as much security as my opponents have. Earlier I met a soldier, but now I don’t have the courage to go on tours, I go to Delhi for treatment and come back alone. If some day an accident happens then who will take responsibility? Condolences will be expressed only in the Assembly and Parliament. Everyone will say that the deceased man was great.
Said his financial condition was bad
While answering the question about Y category security, Azam Khan said that at present my financial condition is not good to bear the expenses of security personnel. How will I be able to get them a separate car? Therefore, the government should first tell in writing which category and what security arrangements have been provided. How can I accept that these people in khaki uniform are people of Uttar Pradesh government? Everything is provided in Y category, I did not find anything like that.
