WTC Points Table 2025-27: Why is India lagging behind in the WTC points table despite winning more matches than Australia? Know the reason for this

However, India is still at the third position in the WTC points table, while the Australian team, which has won 3 matches, is at the first position. Sri Lanka is at number two. India has played 7 matches, won 4 and lost 2. 1 match is being drawn. Sri Lanka has only 16 points and India has 52 points, but still India is behind Sri Lanka in the table.

How are the positions of teams decided in the WTC points table?

A team gets 12 points for winning a test. If the match is tied then a team gets 6 points. If there is a draw, you get 4 points. But the position of the teams is not decided on the basis of points but on the basis of winning percentage.

Of course, Australia has won only 3 matches, but after winning all three matches, their win percentage is 100. Sri Lanka has won only 1 match but their win percentage is 66.67, which is higher than India’s win percentage. Team India’s winning percentage is 61.90.
