According to the report, there has been a decline of 8 percent in the valuation of IPL in the year 2025. This has also raised questions whether the IPL craze is ending? ‘The Price of Regulation: IPL and WPL Valuation Report 2025’ released by D&P Advisory revealed that the valuation of the Indian Premier League in 2023 was Rs 92,500 crore, but it fell by 10.6 percent to Rs 82,700 crore in 2024. Now for the second consecutive year i.e. in 2025, the brand value of IPL has fallen by 8 percent to Rs 76,100 crore.

There can be many reasons for the decline in brand value, of which integration of media rights can be one of the main reasons. In the year 2024, the merger of Viacom 18 and Disney Star took place, after which JioHotstar was launched. Somewhere due to this merger, IPL has suffered a loss of Rs 16,400 crore within two years. Due to the joining hands of both the big companies, a monopoly has been established in media rights.

Although the Indian Premier League earns bumper income from media rights, but the closure of fantasy and online gaming companies has also had a deep impact on the earnings of IPL. It is being told that due to the ban on online gaming platforms, the brand value of IPL has been affected by about Rs 1,500-2,000 crore.

WPL also suffered loss

Women’s Premier League has also achieved a different position in women’s cricket. But compared to last year, the brand value of WPL has also seen a decline of 5.6 percent. The brand value of the Women’s Premier League has now reduced from Rs 1350 crore to Rs 1275 crore.
