Under this, if your travel date changes. So there will be no need to cancel the ticket. You will be able to travel on the same ticket on any other day. However, Railways has set some conditions for this. Let us tell you how this new rule will work and who will benefit from it.
Travel on a different date without canceling the ticket
Indian Railways is preparing to make major changes in the ticket booking system. Now passengers will be able to extend their journey date without canceling the ticket. That is, if you have booked a train for 20th November and now you have to travel on 22nd November. So the same ticket can be rescheduled. This facility will be available only on confirmed tickets booked through IRCTC portal or app.

At present, passengers have to cancel the ticket and book a new ticket and pay cancellation charges. After the new rule this hassle will end. Yes, if the train fare is higher on the new date then the passenger will have to pay the difference in fare. This change will make the digital service of Railways even more flexible.
Passengers will get relief
This new rule can prove to be a big relief for the passengers. Many times people have to change their travel plans due to emergency, due to which 25 to 50 percent fee has to be paid for canceling the ticket. In some cases, no refund is even available. Now Railways plans to ensure that passengers do not cancel their tickets. Rather update the journey date.

This will save both time and money. However, it is not necessary that the same seat gets confirmed again on the new date. Tickets will change depending on seat availability. Let us tell you that according to reports, Railways is considering giving partial refund to the passengers even in case of missing the train. However, no official statement has been issued on this.
