The political battle for Bihar Assembly elections is going on, even in the cold of October-November, political heat is increasing due to political statements. Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shivanand Tiwari expressed displeasure over Sharad Yadav’s son Shantanu not getting ticket from RJD from Madhepura. RJD has fielded Professor Chandrashekhar, who is a sitting MLA.
In fact, after Sharad Yadav’s son Shantanu from Madhepura, Bihar, did not get ticket from RJD, Shivanand Tiwari has written a long post on his Facebook wall and has counted the favors of Sharad Yadav. Shivanand Tiwari wrote, “Sharad Yadav’s son could not contest the elections. Felt very pained.”
Met Sharad Yadav in 1969
Shivanand said, “I met Sharad ji for the first time in 1969. That year, the national conference of the United Socialist Party was held in Jabalpur. In the same year, I had filed a Patna case against the Shankaracharya of Puri under the anti-untouchability law. Because of that case, my name was in the news. The party had made me a delegate in the said national conference.
He said that the date of that case was a day or two before that. My lawyer had got the date postponed citing the need to go to the Jabalpur conference. That case became a topic of discussion across the country. News of every activity in the case was published in the newspapers. When I reached Jabalpur to attend the party conference, I remember that one of the newspapers there had published the headline ‘Shivanand Tiwari in Jabalpur.’
‘Sharad ji had given invitation to organize the meeting’
The RJD leader said, “Sharad ji was the president of the student union of the local engineering college there. He was also a volunteer in that conference. While finding out, he reached my room. He invited me to hold my meeting at the gate of his college. But I did not go. That was my first meeting with Sharad ji. After that, a lot of water flowed from the Ganga. He emerged as a big leader in socialist politics.”
Was active in politics before becoming MP
After losing elections in Jabalpur and Badaun, he (Sharad Yadav) came to Bihar. Even before becoming MP from Bihar, he was closely associated with the politics here. I have seen it very closely. Sharad ji played a very important role in the politics of the two leaders who emerged in that stream after the generation of Karpuri ji and Tiwari ji. Especially in Lalu ji’s politics. In his last days, Sharad ji had, in a way, gone into the wilderness of politics. In his last days, he had associated himself with Lalu ji’s party.
‘Shantanu has no chance even in Lok Sabha’
He said, “Sharad ji had made Madhepura his home. After taking land, he has built a big house there. Sharad ji has two children, a daughter and a son. The family members and especially his wife Rekha ji wanted their son Shantanu to contest the Lok Sabha elections in place of Sharad. But he did not get that opportunity.”
He further said, “Dinesh ji of Nitish ji’s party is the MP from there. He is a strong man. Instead of contesting Shantanu, Lalu ji’s party made someone else contest. But he too could not win. If Sharad ji’s son had also been made a candidate from there, he too would not have won. But Lalu ji would have been freed from Sharad ji’s debt. Called Rekha ji today. She was very sad and sad.”
