In today’s fast and changing lifestyle, taking care of health has become more important than ever, especially for women, many changes occur in the body with increasing age. Like menopause, hormonal imbalance, mental stress and lack of physical activity, all these affect not only the body but also the mind. In such a situation, Omega-3 fatty acid is a type of good fat which is very important for the body, but the body can produce it on its own in very small quantities. Therefore it is necessary to take it through food.

Omega-3 fatty acids are especially important for women. But do you know that deficiency of Omega-3 fatty acids in the body makes women a dangerous disease. Omega-3 fatty acid deficiency is especially seen more in women and this is the reason why they can easily fall prey to this disease. So let us know what dangerous disease occurs if Omega-3 level decreases in women and what is the way to avoid it.

Which dangerous disease causes deficiency of Omega-3 level in women?

Due to low level of Omega-3 in women, dangerous diseases like Alzheimer’s occur. This is a serious mental illness, in which memory becomes weak, the ability to think and understand decreases and changes in behavior also occur. Brain cells are made of Omega-3, especially DHA is found in large quantities in them. It helps maintain brain functions, such as memory, ability to concentrate, and mental balance. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, which are major causes behind diseases like Alzheimer’s. Apart from this, Omega-3 fatty acids improve blood flow in the brain, which provides necessary nutrition and oxygen to the cells. It prevents the death of neurons i.e. it protects the cells.

Why are women at greater risk?

Hormonal changes occur in women after menopause, which can affect brain function. Also, at this age, physical activity reduces, many women also struggle with depression and there is deficiency in nutrition. A study conducted in Britain has shown that the level of Omega-3 fatty acids was found to be very low in women suffering from Alzheimer’s, whereas no such difference was seen in men. This means that Omega-3 is even more important for the brain of women, especially after the age of 40.

What is the way to avoid this

1. Eat things rich in Omega-3, like fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, soybean and kidney beans.

2. Take Omega-3 supplements. If there is deficiency of Omega-3 in your diet then you can take DHA and EPA supplements. Especially if you do not eat fish, supplements can also be a good option.

3. Maintain an active physical nature. Physical activity may decrease after menopause, but light exercise, yoga, and meditation have a positive effect on mental health.
