The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has busted a big drugs racket and broken a network which was being operated directly from Dubai. Police have arrested the main accused Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh in this case. It is being told that Salim Shaikh was not only associated with the drugs network of the infamous D-Gang, but was also a very close associate of Salim Dola.
Investigation started from Kurla, reached Dubai
In February 2025, police had caught a woman with 641 grams of mephedrone, ₹12.20 lakh in cash and jewelery worth ₹1.5 lakh in Mumbai’s Kurla area. During interrogation, the woman told that she had got these drugs from Sajid Shaikh alias Dabs of Mira Road. After this revelation, the crime branch arrested Sajid. During a search of his house, police recovered 3 kg of MD drugs (worth approximately ₹ 6 crore) and ₹ 3.68 lakh in cash. In further investigation, the police found that the wires of this network were connected to Dubai.
Drugs factory found in Sangli, goods worth ₹245 crore recovered
During investigation, it was revealed that an illegal factory for manufacturing drugs was being run in Irli village of Sangli district. During the police raid, 122.5 kg of Mephedrone (worth approximately ₹ 245 crore), drug manufacturing equipment and a vehicle were seized from there. In this action so far 6 accused have been arrested from the spot.
₹256 crore seized, 15 accused arrested
In the action so far, the police have arrested a total of 15 people (14 men and 1 woman). The total value of assets seized so far is more than ₹256 crore, which includes. 126 kg of Mephedrone, ₹3.62 crore in cash, gold jewellery, vehicles and other assets.
Mastermind arrested from Dubai and brought to India
The main accused Mohammad Salim Shaikh was hiding in Dubai for a long time. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him. Recently, with the help of UAE Police, he was arrested and brought to India. Mumbai Police formally arrested him on 22 October 2025, and the court has sent him on police remand till 30 October.
