The collision was so strong that many vehicles were burnt to ashes and 3 people died on the spot. Investigation into truck driving rules started again in America
This case has once again raised questions regarding immigration policy in America. The Trump administration has started re-examining the rules of immigration and driving trucks in America. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said states were warned this year to meet the Trump administration’s English language rules.
He said, California is the only state in the country that refuses to ensure that large truck drivers can read our road signs and communicate with law enforcement agencies. “This is a fundamental security issue that affects American families.”
Anti-Sikh rhetoric started in August
This incident happened a few days after the road accident that took place in Florida a few days ago. According to an Associated Press (AP) report, a US official said, “On August 12, truck driver Harjinder Singh, a Sikh of Indian origin, made a U-turn on the Florida Turnpike, causing a crash that killed three people.” According to the report, after this accident, members of the Sikh community of California said that anti-Sikh rhetoric has increased there.
Increased tension among Sikh truck drivers living in America
After this accident, online protests against drivers from the Sikh community living in America had increased significantly. According to the report, a truck driver living in California said, this accident had a lot of negative impact online. People are saying that people with towels should be removed from the streets. Make our roads safer by getting immigrants off the roads.” He further said that it was the driver’s fault and not the entire community’s.
Harsimran Singh, CEO of Gilson Trucking in Stockton, California, also said that the way the case was handled has made many people in my community worried about their future in this country. He said, “It is a tragedy. It was an accident and every Punjabi, every Sikh is sad for the victim’s family.”
