A Muslim man built a building in the name of a school, the administration demolished a part of it, calling it illegal.

In Betul district of Madhya Pradesh, a person named Abdul Naeem allegedly built a building for a school but the administration demolished a part of the construction, calling it illegal. An official provided this information on Wednesday.

According to the official, this case is of Dhaba village under Bhainsdehi tehsil, where on Tuesday evening the administration took action to demolish the shed (a structure made of iron sheets) of the building under the leadership of local Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ajit Maravi.

Building owner Naim and the local people complained against this action to Betul District Magistrate Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi but he clearly said that the construction is illegal and it will be removed.

Suryavanshi said, ‘The said construction is completely illegal. The Gram Panchayat had earlier given three notices to remove that construction under the Panchayat Raj Act. Also duly passed the order. If such a big structure is being built then it is important to follow the rules.

He told that this building is illegal because for construction, No Objection Certificate (NOC) has to be taken from the Panchayat, which was not taken in this case.

Meanwhile, villagers told that three days ago a rumor spread that Naeem had built an illegal madrasa and children were being given unauthorized education here.

When asked about this, the District Magistrate said that neither any school nor any madrassa is being run in it. He said that no process has been completed even for the operation of the school.

Ramesh alias Sonu Panse, a resident of Dhaba village and an activist of Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYAS), also said that no madrasa-like activity is going on in the village because the population of the village is around two thousand and only four Muslim families live here.

The District Magistrate said that the construction was illegal, hence force was sought from the administration to remove the ‘encroachment’, which was provided. He clarified, ‘No one will be provided support or protection in illegal activity.’

What did Abdul Naeem say?

Naeem told reporters that with the aim of providing education to the children at the local level, he had planned to start education from nursery to class eight and built this building for this purpose.

He claimed that on December 30, he had submitted an application to the Education Department for permission to operate the school.

The building owner said that if any law has been violated, he is ready to compensate by paying a fine but the building should not be demolished under any circumstances.

What did the DM of Betul say?

When asked about taking NOC for the building from the Panchayat, Naeem said that he was not aware that NOC has to be taken from the Panchayat also.

He told that on January 11, the Panchayat had issued a notice ordering the demolition of the building, but when the villagers protested against the notice of demolition of the school, the Sarpanch hastily issued the NOC for the building.

The District Magistrate said, ‘The NOC shown was written in the hands of the Sarpanch. It should be signed by the Secretary, because he is the executive of the Panchayat.

However, the villagers want that the building should not be demolished so that the children can get good education at the local level.

He told that this school is being built only with the consent of the villagers.
