Goa temple stampede: A painful accident occurred on the night of Friday (May 02, 2025) during the Shri Larai ‘Jatra’ held in Shirgaon, Goa. Here 7 people died due to stampede in the Larai temple, while more than 30 people were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The accident occurred when there was a sudden chaos in the midst of a large crowd, due to which people started running around to save their lives. Eyewitnesses said that the situation had become very scary during the stampede and people were trying to get out on each other.
Police and emergency services reached the spot as soon as the incident was received and immediate relief and rescue work was started. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospitals.
The reason behind the stampede
Officials have not yet officially confirmed the reason behind the stampede, but according to initial reports, the accident occurred due to the crowd being over and not proper arrangements. More information related to the incident is awaited. On this occasion, Goa CM Pramod Sawant visited the hospital to know the condition of the injured.

1000 policemen were posted in the temple
The incident of the stampede took place during the Shri Devi Lirai Yatra, which started on Friday. Thousands of devotees attended it. About 1000 policemen were deployed for the visit. The administration was completely ready. Drones were also installed for air monitoring on crowd activities. Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Sawant, his wife Sulakshana, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tension and MLA Premendra Shet and Carlos Ferrera visited the yatra.
